La Tania, where everyone claims it’s a “hidden gem” in the 3 Valleys but somehow the Brits have already moved in and made it feel like a corner of Surrey with snow.
You’ll find French families gently cruising down the tree-lined Folyères run, while fearless Dutch snowboarders do battle with the Troika drag lift, and the odd Aussie wondering how they ended up here instead of Val Thorens.
We love the many affordable(ish) chalets, the thrill of nipping to Courchevel or Méribel for a day, and swapping stories at Pub Le Ski Lodge.
We're not so keen on the morning rush for the main gondola, discovering that “just a quick run” leads to an accidental tour of the entire 3 Valleys, and never being able to remember which zigzag in the winding road actually brings you back to La Tania. But, that’s the charm of this cosy little resort - just follow the smell of vin chaud and you’ll probably make it home in time for fondue.
