Saalbach, the wild heart of the Skicircus, where Brits claim they’ve come for “the tranquil slopes” but somehow always end up dancing on the tables at the Hinterhag Alm by sunset.

You’ll rub shoulders with Germans plotting their precise route across 200km of pistes, Dutch who somehow never seem to need a break, and a few Austrians wondering how their laid-back valley turned into a giant party on skis.

Expect to tackle the Kohlmais run in the morning (feeling sporty) and then wind up at Goassstall in Hinterglemm by afternoon (feeling way more “hydrated”).

We love the endless mountain panoramas, fast lifts like the Schattberg X-Press, and discovering that Jägertee counts as a warm-up.

We're not so keen on navigating which valley to ski next. But hey, if you don’t get lost at least once, you’re just not doing Saalbach right.
