You’ll find Brits doing the “boozy shuffle” between Folie Douce and the Saloon bar, Dutch groups trying to outdo each other’s goggle tans on the Plein Sud run, and French locals calmly reminding everyone that “Oui, c’est la plus haute station d’Europe.”

We love skiing until your lungs remind you that altitude is a thing, sharing questionable dance moves on the tables at La Folie Douce, and tackling the dizzying heights of the Cime Caron lift (assuming you haven’t already lost your nerve in the queue). 

We're not so keen on everyone deciding 9 a.m. is a perfect time to line up for the Funitel Péclet, the unholy mess of mismatched ski poles after a night out, and that sneaky sun burn you get even though you’re surrounded by snow. But hey, in Val Thorens, if you can’t handle the altitude or the après, you probably shouldn’t have boarded that gondola in the first place - so grab your hoodie of sweatshirt and embrace the madness!
